Welcome to the AMA Blog!

Thank you for visiting
the American Movers Association’s first blog post.

We’re a membership of moving professionals who are here to educate and advocate for growth and change in the relocation industry for consumers and service providers.  We’re comprised of owner-operators and employees tasked with your relocation. It is our responsibility to lead the teams that wrap, pack, protect and move your belongings. With this in mind, one of our foremost priorities is to represent and advocate for drivers who are the point of leadership on every move. By prioritizing issues that face professional drivers we can grow towards better consumer protections.

Since the founding of our organization and the launch of our website in October of 2018, we’ve seen our membership grow exponentially and quickly to a representation of 100’s of drivers and nearly 100 agents as well as 14 major van lines. That number grows daily in leaps and bounds and we’ll use the power of our collective voice to initiate positive change for consumers and drivers. Our goal is to use our collective voice to empower and educate consumers and service providers on all of the issues affecting our industry, including those industries that affect us indirectly. Whether you’re a corporate client, military client or COD customer we want to address the problems and issues you face during the relocation process.

We’re not here to lift any one company over another nor will we collect dues from our members to participate in this organization. We’re also not a review site or a place where we try to sell our services. Our association is independent of any broker association, unlike the American Movers and Storage Association which is made up of van line owners and leadership. The first step to achieving a balance in this industry and the market itself is to balance the dialogue. Cross-check the information you receive from moving companies van lines and relocation companies with us. We’ll give you the facts as we see them. As a collective and unbiased voice, we have the freedom to tell it like it is. We can and will truthfully inform you about the issues affecting our industry without fear of reprisal, or retaliation. We will use our platform to advocate for the good of everyone, especially the consumers that we so passionately serve.

For too long drivers have not been invited to speak about the real issues. We believe that had the industry listened to the drivers that the industry would be better able to adapt to changing consumer trends and needs. To that end, we look forward to working with industry leaders who want to affect real and positive changes. If last year’s busy season was any indication, many changes need to occur. Stay tuned as we address these sensitive and immediate topics.

We’re here to inspire you to ask questions and join the conversation. If you’re a driver and are interested in joining our cause you can sign up here. Please subscribe to this blog and share in our discussions. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and resources with all of you.
